Poster, British Railways staff safety poster. 'Stay safe at footplate level.' Depicts the footplate crew of steam locomotive, travelling under overhead electric wires. The fireman is about to climb onto the back of the tender, as the driver seizes his shoulder and points a warning finger to the wires above. The poster includes the red lightning flash symbolising high voltage electricity and the legend "Danger, overhead live wires" and an exerpt from rule book concerning working on electrified lines. Format: Foolscap, 17 x 13 inches.
