But the Britannia Bridge was not yet built and passengers and mail bags had to take coach from Bangor to Telford's Suspension Bridge to Anglesley where another train awaited them. By June 1850 the Britannia Bridge was opento traffic and today Robert Stephenson's mighty engineering feat stands as a memorial to the consummate skill of the Victorian generation of engineers.
