Poster Great Western Railway, London Midland & Scottish Railway, London & North Eastern Railway, Southern Railway. 21st Birthday 1923-1944 by "M"

The 21st anniversary of Grouping fell during World War Two, in 1944. The First Lord of the Admiralty, the Secretary of State for War and the Secretary of State for Air joined together to commemorate the occasion and thank railway staff for their service during Wartime.

The poster reads:

"On this, the 21st anniversary of the formation of the four main-line railways, we send our congratulations to the Managers and Staff.

We are grateful to all railway servants, of every grade, for the way in which they have responded to the calls made upon them. They will certainly have the satisfaction of knowing, when the final triumph of our cause is achieved, that they have played a proud and praiseworthy part in the victory of the United Nations."
