Poster, North Eastern Railway, Historic York -The Threshold of England's best holiday Ground by JC, about 1910. Coloured lithograph depicting a knight on horseback brandishing a lance, with background of Bootham Bar and York Minster. The horse is in white with a red caparison, and the knight is in black with red and white plumes on his helmet. The background is in shades of grey, orange and yellow. Accompanying text reads "Circular Tours and Cheap Tickets in all directions. Prominence given to Experienced Guides to the City of York, which can be arranged by communicating with the Chief Passenger Agent, NER, York". The post of Chief Passenger Agent, mentioned in the text, was created in 1902. NER poster identity: NE 32. (Alternative NRM no.: 1979-7932)
