Seal, Stockton & Darlington Railway, die, steel, pictorial, shield halved with motto above ‘PERICULUM PRIVATAM UTILITAS PUBLICA’ - ‘at private risk for public service’ and motto below, ‘VIS UNITA FORTIOR’ - ‘combined strength is more powerful’. Incorporated on April 19th 1821, opened 27th September 1825, reincorporated 1849 and absorbed by the North Eastern Railway on 28th July 1862.
