Rediffusion black and white television receiver, Type RVS 2T1770, manufactured about 1967. Fitted with 405/625 line selector buttons on side.

In 1967 the BBC officially launched colour television broadcasts in the UK, beggining with the Wimbledon tennis chaptionship. This was after years of experimentation and deciding on formats for colour TV in the UK. However, colour television was slow to spread, and many people contintued using black and white sets for years to come.
