Magneto for motor car

B.L.I.C. stationary armature 4 cylinder magneto for motor cars, sectioned

In recent years the speeds of motor car engines have increased and consequently very high stresses are set up in the windings of magnetos fitted with rotating armature windings. This magneto, which embodies features patented in 1921 by E.O. Turner and E.B. Tuppen, avoids rotating windings by using rotating magnets. The design obviates the use of revolving armature connections, such as slip rings.
