Sturmey-Archer three-speed cycle hub, 1929, sectioned, on mahogany base(see note on Screen 2).

This is sectioned example of the "K" type hub which is an improved and simplified form of the three-speed gear patented by Messrs, J. J. H. Sturmey and J. Archer between 1901 and 1906. The arrangement gives a 33 per cent rise from the normal to the high gear and a 25 per cent drop to the low gear.
