Model of Junkers F.13 all-metal Transport Aeroplane.

This is a model of a Junkers F.13 transport aeroplane. The German aircraft designer Hugo Junkers can be credited with influencing the whole course of aircraft production. He was responsible for the first practical cantilever wing aeroplanes, the first practical all-metal aeroplanes, and the first practical low-wing monoplanes. The Junkers F.13 carried two crew and four passengers. It was constructed largely of duralumin, and was in many respects the miniature prototype of many generations of airliners. This 1:24 scale model was made at the Junkers factory in Dessau, Germany, but by 1923 had found its way to the Air Ministry Laboratory at Imperial College, London.
