



'Thunder pump' magneto-electric device, made by W T Henley's Telegraph Works Company Limited, London, England, 1856.
This design of magneto-electric machine was used by the Electric Telegraph Company. Pumping the handle created a strong alternating current, which rang a call bell at the far end.
