Two home made Bell telephone receivers, probably made by David Edward Hughes, England, 1875-1890.
David Edward Hughes (1831-1901) was born in Britain but spent many years in the United States, where he invented a successful printing telegraph. Back in London in his later years he investigated many electrical phenomena. On reading of Bell's invention of the telephone in 1876 he soon made his own copies for experimental purposes
