Automatic telephone wall set made by Automatic Electric Company, Chicago, United States, 1900-1910.
This is an early example of an American wall telephone. It has no hand generator or battery cells, and was instead used on exchanges where a central battery was available. This meant that all power required for the telephone was drawn from the central telephone exchange, rather than the telephone having a separate power source.
