Sony Videocorder Type PV-12OUE modied for radar application

Sony Videocorder Type PV-12OUE, s/n 2813, in folding transport case, with spares and accessories; tape-deck modified for radar application by EMI Electronics Ltd (Ref 4E/D 27090, s/n W102). This is a relatively early example of a video recorder as well as the use of helical scanning on 2" tape. Recording was performed in a helical pattern on 2-ince wide lubricated magnetic tape. Sony video tape reccorder type PV-12OUE was a portable, simple-to-operate, sophisticated television recorder and reproducer which offered professional-standard tape recording at what was then a relatively low cots and suitable for industry, research organisations, hospitals, schools, colleges etc. It was relatively light - weighing "only" 148lbs, then the weight of a standard portable audio recorder, and met or exceeded commercial and military requirements.
