This is a relatively early example of a video recorder as well as the use of helical scanning on 2" tape. Recording was performed in a helical pattern on 2-ince wide lubricated magnetic tape. Sony video tape reccorder type PV-12OUE was a portable, simple-to-operate, sophisticated television recorder and reproducer which offered professional-standard tape recording at what was then a relatively low cots and suitable for industry, research organisations, hospitals, schools, colleges etc. It was relatively light - weighing "only" 148lbs, then the weight of a standard portable audio recorder, and met or exceeded commercial and military requirements.
