Thirty coherers of various types and a pill box containing a quantity of porphyrised (powdered) copper, designed or used by Sir Oliver Lodge, British, 1894-1904.

These coherers, or detectors of Hertzian waves, are part of a collection originally owned by Sir Oliver Lodge, and show the development of design. Some were probably designed by Lodge's assistant E E Robinson, while others may be of French origin. One of this collection of thirty coherers is currently missing.
