The Decca DARS-1 was a long-range terminal surveillance radar operating in the 10cm band. It was developed specifically for civil aviation to meet operational requirements in areas of high traffic density or where jet and turbo-prop aircraft were being operated. It was in use from 1958/1959 onwards.
