Model of second-rate ship-of-the-line

Made:
1830-1840 in United Kingdom

Contemporary model, scale 1:48, second-rate ship-of-the-line, of about 1815, unsigned, British, 1811-1830. The model is not dockyard-built and does not match the correct dimensions of the 84-gun warship, HMS Vanguard (1835), the name carried on the vessel's stern. It more closely matches the appearance of HMS 'Vengeance' built at Pembroke Dockyard in 1824. This was one of eight sister ships built and based on HMS 'Canopus', which was captured from the French.

The model was received partly rigged, which was completed in 1890 to the design of HMS Vanguard (see note)
