Model of double-concave small-palmed anchor (Rodger's patent)

This model shows one of Lieut. Rodger's designs for improvement of anchors.

It does not differ substantially from the kedge anchor of the period, but the iron stock is provided with a collar which over-rides the upper part of the shank. In the ordinary kedge anchor the iron stock passes through a hole in the top of the shank and consequently Rodger's design had the advantage of preserving the strength of the shank.
