Model, scale 1:30, whole, rigged, Prisoner of War model of a naval cutter c. 1790. Cutters, fast sailing vessels much used for patrol and dispatch services in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, were introduced into the Navy about 1750. This model represents one of the larger naval cutters of about 150 tons burden, with a gun deck length of 69 feet and an armament of 12 guns. It is similar to the 'Expedition', built at Dover, 1778.
