Print, Engine off the Line by Dean and Son, about 1848. Circular coloured lithograph depicting a serious railway accident at night. It shows a derailed train on a curving railway next to a cliff or mountainside. The locomotive and tender are lying on their sides, and carriages are piled up behind them. Dead or injured passengers lie on the track, and some people are helping them. The scene is moonlit, and there are stars in the dark night sky. The print has been trimmed, and just visible at the bottom edge are the words "Tintorette printing by Dean & Son, Threadneedle Street, London."
