Black leather-bound photograph album with the word “Photographs” embossed in the top left corner of the front cover. The spine bears the handwritten reference “Misc/037” in white ink. The album contains monochrome prints documenting the construction of Immingham Docks by The Humber Graving Dock and Engineering Company Ltd. The photographs show the early and intermediate stages of construction, dating from 1910 to 1912. Beneath each image is a handwritten annotation in white ink, identifying the subject of the photograph. The photographs depict various elements of construction such as Coffer Dam, Dry Dock, Pumping Plant and Coal Hoists. Further, there is an image of a map, highlighting the location of Immingham Dock and the surrounding area. The last page of the album features various images of people, most notably that of Mr. George Hollowday, whose portrait bears a handwritten annotation in white ink reading “Mr. George Hollowday the contractors’ manager who had sole charge of the works”. On the inside of the front cover the words “With compliments of The Humber Graving Dock and Engineering Co. Ltd. Immingham, July 1947” are printed in black ink. The inside of the front cover also bears a printed stamp reading “British Transport Commission Historical Relics”, together with the identification number 6329/57Y. Additionally, on the inside of the back cover there is a small stamp adhered to the bottom left corner. It reads “Bartons British Albums, Ronaldo”.
