Model 1:20 European Communications Satellite, (ECS), 1983.
This is a scale model (1:20) of a European Communications Satellite (ECS). The first ECS Satellite (ECS 1) was launched in 1983. It had been developed and financed by the European Space Agency and was subsequently transferred to the European Telecommunications Satellite Organisation (EUTELSAT) as the Eutelsat 1-F1 satellite for commercial operation. Three more ECS type satellites were launched over the next five years. Eutelsat currently operates a mixed fleet of satellites that provide a range of communications services for Europe.
