This is of the Stephenson type lamps, and embodies improvements patented in 1861 by Mr. I. Evans. Air is admitted by holes just above the reservoir to a gauze protected space around the wick, and an internal glass chimney delivers the products of combustion by means of a cone into a gauze -capped chamber. certain proportion of the air from the space around the wick is allowed to pass through small holes to the space between the chimney and the glass cylinder, thus producing a cooling action. Screw locks are fitted to both reservoir and shield.
