Ceramic mug with ‘Planet’ class stylistic transfers from 1830-40.

Bute cylindrical body and D shaped handle.

The stencilling inside the lip has a crowned pattern.

The transfer on the body depicts a locomotive ‘Jaco’ with three people on the foot plate. Two passenger carriages filled with people followed by a flatbed carrying a riding carriage with 4 people. The train is passing a mountainous pastoral scene with one dwelling with an active smokestack and a church. The overall image is well stencilled in a black slip. Majority of the foliage through the scenery is glazed over in lime green with a large brush. The train engines smokestacks smoke is filled in with lime green glaze. The body of the engine is filled in with lime green glaze. The first and last of the three engine bay decorative panels are filled in with a red rose glaze while the central panel is filled in with lime green. The decorative panels of the 2 passenger carriages follow the same red rose, lime green, red rose colour pattern.
