Deer-antler pick, used in flint mining from Grimes Graves

Deer-antler pick. This pick, made from a deer's antler, is from the prehistoric flint workings known as 'Grimes Graves' in Suffolk. It would have been used to mine suitable blocks of flint for the making of flint instruments. It is interesting to note that the picks used in the Brandon flint mines today are also single-pointed.
