A Cauet hand is fixed to the wrist and a wire, passing through the forearm, extends the fingers when pulled upon by means of an attachment to the harness appendage. Made by Prosthesia c.1915.

Each of 41,000 British soldiers who lost a limb during the First World War was entitled to a prosthetic replacement. This arm was made for a man who had his arm amputated above the elbow. When a wire passing through the forearm is pulled, the fingers of the hand extend. The arm and the hand were designs by a prosthetic manufacturer called Prosthesia Ltd. The arm is secured to the shoulder by four straps and a figure-of-eight harness.
