An arm for a right below elbow amputation. The unlined leather socket is well worn and softened with age. Fitted with an oval wrist and screw-on wooden hand. This has semi-flexed fingers and a semi-opposed thumb. There is a square box-fitting in the palm (for holding eating utensils). The prosthesis was secured to the wearer by two side suspension straps attached to an encircling strap (and buckle) sited just above the elbow. [The original straps have been replaced by the patient.] Origin unknown, made about 1925.
