Anodized brass sextant, oval-pattern frame type, with polished brass limb and wooden handle with fitted square wooden case (trade card on lid), by Newton & Co 3 Fleet St. Temple Bar City of London, England, 1851-1856. Consists of inlaid silver scale (-5° to 160°) with 10' divisions, two sets of filter shades (4 & 3, all green) and reading magnifier on a swivel arm (90mm). Fitted with threaded telescope bracket with collimation correction for two telescopes, 84mm & 186mm (erect & inverted images) and sighting tube (82mm).
