Dummy acoustic fish tag (attached to 1977-30 Pt2), 1975-77.

Acoustic tags allow fish to be identified and tracked for relatively long periods, to show how they respond to environmental phenomena such as tides. Tags comprise a receiver and transmitter which returns the sonar signal to the tracking ship. The tag is attached to the fish by a thread and a conventional tag.
