[Engineering sketchbook, compiled by Shropshire ironmaster William Reynolds. The 'sketchbook' comprises 130 loose items (sketches, prints and coloured drawings) by various hands. Most date from the 1790s, others from the early 1800s. All items are on Science Museum negative (see listing for neg. nos.); the photos should be looked at before requesting actual drawings. Reynolds, son of Richard Reynolds of Coalbrookdale, was of Ketley Ironworks, near Telford, Shropshire. Leaves cover designs of steam engines; manufacture of iron; methods of winding coal; excavating plant for canals; bridges; viaducts, etc. 5 boxes.
