Hand-painted lantern slides used at the Polytechnic Institution

Hand-painted lantern slides, 8" x 6", 2 of 14, used at the Polytechnic Institution about 1860-78. Consists; (9) Vesuvius in eruption, painted by Childe and Donbell, 66 Vauxhall Walk, Lambeth, dated Oct. 17 1868. and (11) Mediaeval town square signed 'W.R.Hill July 1879' on mount (1of 2.L.S.).
