Specimen of Britannia Joint for joining heavy-gauge telephone wire, unknown maker, probably British, 1900-1980.

This joint shows the type of heavy-duty copper wire that was used in long distance telephone wires. To join the heavy duty wires, they were bound together with lighter wire, and then soldered.
