These plaster casts were made from the feet of a boy called Kevin when he was at the Lord Mayor Treloar Orthopaedic Hospital in Alton, Hampshire, England. Plaster casts are made as a record of a patient’s condition and also as a guide to fit any prostheses or special footwear that may be needed. Founded in 1908, the Lord Mayor Treloar Hospital specialised in treating children with orthopaedic conditions, such as those caused by rickets, polio and tuberculosis. The casts are shown here with a similar example (2002-345).
