Collection of black & white photographs, some mounted onto card, showing patients and staff involved in iron lung treatment for poliomyelitis at the Lord Mayor Treloar Orthopaedic Hospital, Alton, 1937-1939. Most pictures feature Eric Marchant, the hospital's first iron lung patient whose 1937 photographs inspired Lord Nuffield's gift of iron lungs to the Empire.
