ICI fertiliser, 1977, ICI no.3 NPK composite fertilizer, in a 250ml, stoppered, spherical flask.

This fertiliser mix, first introduced by BASF in 1920s, is the standard for the industry. Known as NPK, which stands for nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium, it contains three key nutrients for plant growth.

This sample was made by one of the biggest chemical companies in the world at the time, Britain's Imperial Chemical Industries.
