Scale drawing of Nottingham Water Works Engine House, England, 1851-1860

Nottingham Water Works was civil engineer Thomas Hawskley’s (1807-93) first major project. Completed in 1832, and serving eight thousand homes, the waterworks gave a constant supply, an unusual achievement for water providers at this time. Throughout his long career, Hawksley was responsible for 150 water supply plans in the United Kingdom and overseas. This scale drawing is of the engine house at Nottingham Water Works.
