Receiver carrier WB400A, part of UK nuclear early warning system
The Receiver Carrier WB400A was part of Britain’s nuclear early warning system introduced in the early 1960s, replacing an earlier system. It was installed at police stations and during an emergency would have been left switched on continuously, ready to receive a spoken warning of an impending attack. This example was formerly in the BT collection and provides a fascinating insight into cold war technology.
