Ambassador TV4 monochrome console television receiver with original paperwork including purchase receipt and insurance, 1951. Triangular unit designed to fit into the corner of a room. Pink 12 " screen.

Ambassador TV4, made by R N Fitton Limited in Brighouse, Yorkshire, around 1951.

The Ambassador is a 12" corner console television receiver, it cost £78 when new.

Ambassador television receivers were made by R N Fitton who had the idea of making corner sets, wedge-shaped to sit in the corner of the living room. This concept was quite popular for a while, until the new owner realised that what had seemed like a good idea in the showroom, meant that they were stuck with the TV in the corner of the room for years to come.
