Shots of passengers on platforms and rail enthusiasts photographing departing locomotives. Each station passed through is documented with a shot of the station sign, including: Norwich Thorpe, Swaffham, Watton (Norfolk), Lelant, St Erth, Hellston, Bristol Temple Meads, Bude, Hatherleigh, Callington, Lelant (again), Marazion, Purley, Derby Midland, Eastbourne, Bluebell Halt, Salisbury. Shot of a metal boilerplate ("London & North Eastern 5567"), close up shot of the old BR 'lion and wheel' logo. Primarily wide and medium tracking shots of steam and diesel locomotives, occasionally in picturesque settings such as across a lake. The focus is on the locomotives, rather than on people or surrounding landscapes. At Eastbourne, shot of cars driving onto a "car carrier train". Some of the film shot from a railway bridge, including a shot of a fireman shovelling coal into the firebox. The film is primarily shot at lineside, with passenger view footage towards the end of the reel.

This reel documents 4 different rail journeys in Norway, Yugoslavia, Switzerland, and Holland. With lineside and passenger views, the footage shows a variety of steam and diesel-electric locomotives, as well as other forms of transport, including tram in Norway. These journeys are interspersed with footage of mountainous European landscapes, lakes and forests. The film also captures people’s behaviours: pedestrians in cities passed through, passengers with luggage and train staff on platforms, a brass band performance at a station, as well as amateur railway enthusiasts filming passing locomotives from the lineside. Station signs filmed include: Myrdal, Oslo, Finse, Klagenfurt, Chur, Pontresina, Cavaglia, Tirano, Amsterdam Centraal. Amsterdam C-S sign also depicts the 1964 train fare price - 3c per person.
