Fire-steel forming back of bone-handled pocket-knife (length 3 1/4 ins) having two blades (one missing) and a cork-screw; handle, of bone, in shape of a hound couchant, wearing narrow silver collar. Switzerland. [NB: one of eight specimens (nos. 512-519). Five are ordinary pocket-knives, the backs of which are either intended for use as fire-steels or have been used as such. In the case of the other three, the back of the knife-blade has been so used.]
