Tinder-pistol (length 5 1/2 ins) of iron, with wooden butt; no candle-socket; trigger and foot both fold; butt engine-turned, with silver studs and flowers and gold initial-plate, engraved "H.V.R.", inlaid; inscribed on sides "Delincée, Amsterdam"; probably early 18th century. Holland. [Nos 1078-1097 have the pistol-action mechanism enclosed in the body of the pistol].
