GBN toy magic lantern made by Gerbruder Bing, 1905. Made in Germany. Toy lantern in olive green enamelled tinplate. Single condensor lens, single objective lens. Oil lamp with glass chimney. In original cardboard, with instruction sheet. Box of original GBN slides, 12; 17x44cm, four circular pictures to each slide. Box of 12 GBN slides; 17x44cm, series 6, 4 circular pictures to each slide. Box of 12 GBN slides 17x44cm Series 4 slides, four panoramic, eight with four pictures each.

This small enamelled tinplate magic lantern is intended for use in the home. It has a single condenser and a single objective lens. Illumination is provided by an oil lamp with a glass chimney. It has three boxes of GBN glass slides, some with panoramas and others with four or six circular pictures per slide.

Bing was a Nuremburg-based toy manufacturing company renowned for their production of toy steam engines, trains, dolls house furniture and magic lanterns. They began advertising tin-made magic lanterns in 1886. By the turn of the 20th century, the firm employed several thousand workers (5000 in 1914) and was a leading toy toy manufacturer with their good sold by leading department stores around the world.
