Demeny-Gaumont chronophotograph camera/projector, c 1898. Serial No 1292. L Gaumont et cie, Paris. Cine camera and projector for 35mm film, Edison perforation; eccentrically mounted beater; two continuous prockets. Provision for frame, by moving gate; adjustable sector shutter; lens missing; external 400 foot magazines; direct vision viewfinder; film punch; handle missing.

Demeny Gaumont 35mm Chronophotograph Camera/Projector, 1896.

In 1896 Georges Demeny redesigned his 1893 camera for Léon Gaumont’s company so it could be adapted for projection, and would take perforated film. The resulting Demeny-Gaumont Chronophotograph 35mm camera projector has a beater movement, invented by Demeny, which could be used for either taking or projecting films. It could project 60mm films, meaning the projected pictures were more detailed.
