The P1 was one of the first Single 8 cameras, and compared to other Single 8s it was relatively cheap and simple to use. It was intended for amateur use, and cost around £34 in 1967.

Single 8 is a motion picture film format introduced by Fujifilm in 1965 as an alternative to the Kodak Super 8 format.
