Poster linking HIV, AIDS and drug use, strapline 'If I use drugs could I get HIV', illustrated with colour image, giving details of the AIDS telephone helpline, produced by the Health Education Authority, England, 1990.
‘If I use drugs could I get HIV the virus that causes AIDS?’ The question posed by this Health Education Authority cartoon poster outlines the dangers of sharing needles and other injecting equipment. It was aimed at drug users and reinforces the link between HIV, AIDS and drug use. The Health Education Authority campaigned throughout the 1980s and 1990s to raise public awareness about diseases such as AIDS. There was much confusion and misunderstanding related to the spread of AIDS. Posters such as these aimed to dispel such myths.
