Gaumont-Kalee GK21 35mm cinema film projector with President lamphouse, made in Leeds, 1948-1958. Type 83. Manufactured by BAF Ltd London Ser No 653.

This Kalee GK21 35mm cinema projector was manufactured by the Leeds based company A Kershaw and Sons Ltd. and has been on display in Pictureville Cinema since 1992. At their height, Kershaws employed 3000 people and claimed that 75% of British cinemas used their projectors. In the 1950s, a priority for the firm, now named Gaumont British Kalee and a part of the Rank Organisation was the provision of equipment to convert 1000 Rank cinemas for the new widescreen system, Cinemascope.
