By the mid1950s sales of 9.5mm cine equipment had begun to fall. A British businessman bought out the French interest in Pathescope and by 1957 Pathescope (Great Britain) Ltd had been formed. One of their aims was to manufactur emore products in the UK. By 1959 a new 9.5mm cine camera and projector were announced, the Prince and the Princess, with the added benefit of the camera being able to take still images too. the Prince was manufactured by Smiths at their factory in Cheltenham for Pathescope. Fitted with a black nylon wriststrap, it was supplied with a matching black nylon case.
