Memorial brooch, with a photographic portrait of a woman, taken by unknown photographer. Gold letters 'on a black enamel border that reads: 'In Memory Of'. The print is covered by glass in an inset. Pin and hook mounting repositioned on the back. C. 1880.

This memorial brooch, contains an albumen print, taken by an unknown photographer in about 1880. The words 'in memory of' are engraved in gold around the frame.

In the nineteenth century, photographs were often incorporated into memorial jewellery and keepsakes, which could be worn or carried to keep the memory of a loved one close.
