Eastman Negative Film for Movette Cinecamera
Eastman Negative Film for Movette Cinecamera. Film made by Eastman Kodak Co., packed by Movette Inc., Rochester, NY, USA. 50 foot film magazine for 17.5mm film with circular side perforations. Use before 1920.
The Movette, advertised as 'a system of motion photography for the home', was introduced in 1917 by Movette Inc. of Rochester, New York. The 17.5mm film had two circular perforations on each side of each frame. The negative nitrate film was held in a metal box, from which a loop was drawn out for threading into the camera. The developed negative was printed and loaded into a magazine for use in the projector. It was one of the first systems to try to simplify film making for non-experts.
