Nikor-S C lens, F:5cm f/1.4-16, Serial No 50051096; fabric focal plane shutter, horizontal travel, 1/2/4/8/20/30/40/60/100/200/500/B/T. Coupled coincidence type rangefinder combined with direct vision viewfinder. Lenses interchangeable, three point bayonet fitting. Exposure counter in wind knob; accessory shoe. Two pin sockets for flash - F and S settings. Lens cap. In everready case, with screw in lens hood and filter holder with yellow filter, in Rollei case. Overall: 77 mm x 140 mm x 70 mm.

The Nikon M is a 35mm rangefinder camera, the previous version, and Nippon Kogaku’s first camera was the Nikon I. The Nikon I used Nippon format frame size of 24x32mm, this non-standard format meant the camera was not very popular. As a result the Nikon M was introduced with a different frame size, 24x34mm, however this was still a non-standard format.
