A photograph of the 'Coronation Scot', taken by Bishop Marshall in May 1937 for the Daily Herald.
The London Midland and Scottish (LMS) railway's new streamlined train 'Coronation Scot' was named in honour of the Coronation of King George VI. It ran non-stop between London Euston and Glasgow Central Station, with a journey time of six and a half hours. During testing it had established a new Empire peak speed record, reaching 114 miles per hour.
